Ways To Create A Positive Space

As we enter the new year of 2022, hopes of the pandemic becoming a distant memory is still upon us. Over the past two challenging years, COVID has changed the way we work and live. Spending more time indoors became a normality, and while it may have its limitations, it has also allowed us to see our homes in a new light and given us the chance to utilise our spaces differently.

To stay creative during these unpredictable times, we have a few ways you can improve and change up your living space and create an environment that is positive, inspiring, and most importantly, calming.

NATURAL BEAUTY

As we close the door and say goodbye to open office spaces and public outdoor areas for the time being, it’s time to open our own and say hello to the beauty of our home’s natural surroundings. Now more than ever is the perfect time to focus on creating a relaxed, calming environment to help ease our stress and anxieties.

Fitting in with our Cocoon Trend, incorporating round shapes, soft texture—such as boucle—and natural fibres are great ways of providing a sense of comfort and cosiness to your space. No matter which room it is you’re wanting to restyle, our Fabio and Ovis collections are perfect fabrics if you’re interested in creating a heavenly and elegant sanctuary to nest in while you work, sleep or lounge around in.

Natural lighting and ventilation are also important in your living space. Adding sheers against large-scale windows will filter in light and bring an ethereal mood while providing privacy. Depending on your interior, we recommend using our Panay, Aesop, Nelma or Portico sheers to achieve this look. If you're interested and would like a sample of these fabrics to see and touch in person, we offer a free cuttings service on our website and at our showrooms.

Embracing nature has been a little tricky these past couple of years, so bringing it into the comfort of your own home is a must. Creating a visual connection with nature can be achieved in various ways. From a bouquet of flowers in a glass vase or lush green pot plants, to colourful floral and botanic fabric prints, adding a touch of green will freshen things up and bring the beauty of the outdoors, indoors. Glass blocks and bricks are also great options of featuring different tones and texture to liven a room and create a relaxed, yet dimensional style that is visually beautiful and calming.

MULTIPLE USE

Maximising your space with multi-faceted furniture, accessories and designs is the way of the future. Making long term purchases that are high quality and offer multiple functionalities are much more valuable these days and is a perfect solution for utilising potentially small spaces.

Whether for the bedroom or in the living room, storage ottomans are a great example of ways to get creative while being resourceful. Not only will it allow you to store goods, they also provide comfort and colour, depending on the fabric it is reupholstered in. For a luxe, quilted finish, Clique and Benito are excellent choices that are soft, plush and stylish. Alternatively, for a statement piece that is bound to spark visual interest, Zanzibar and Flowerbomb are bolder options that make stunning cushions too—Elsie is also a great collection for a more subtle, floral style.

Banquette seating is another idea of bringing style while utilising your space. From durable plains such as Husk, Lustrell Charisma and Keylargo, to intricate patterns of Ambrosia, Florian and Calverton, an array of moods and themes can be made when designing or reupholstering this piece. The possibilities are endless!

LOCALLY MADE

With people moving away from fast furniture due to stock and shipping issues, locally made products have been sort after and in higher demand more so in recent years. Supporting our locals and investing in locally made products and businesses is not only important, there’s also something very special about it—it’s trusted and it’s home to us.

Here at Warwick, we are incredibly proud of the relationships we have built over the years, especially with our local suppliers.

Our Weave brand offers a range of beautiful virgin lambswool throws, designed in our Auckland design studio and woven locally by one of New Zealands premium weavers. The designs and colours are inspired by our coastal landscapes.

We have an extensive and diverse range of fabrics -plains, textures, patterns (print and woven), Tritan, and hardware that is produced in Australia and that are Australian Made certified. Some of our latest additions to our Australian Made collections include: Caraway, Esperance and Kiama. These are all supplied indent from our Melbourne warehouse.

BUILDING CONNECTION

Having a connection with your space is crucial, especially if it’s a room you spend most of your time in. While each room needs to be functional, having an emotional or nostalgic bond is a must. Spaces are personal after all so there are no rules when it comes to design. Whether it’s displaying treasured items from your childhood, artwork from your favourite artist, intricate vases, fluffy and colourful cushions, or various knickknacks, having a unique environment and embracing the things and colours you love creates a special, homely sanctuary—one you’re happy to immerse yourself in.

Instead of following trends, getting creative and making your own design decisions is something we highly encourage—as does our Futurity Trend. If bold and quirky is your style, featuring bright hues, clashing patterns, and unusual shapes are some ways of expressing your creativity and personality within a space.

Bedheads and modular furniture are also great options for personalising your room and its needs. Any piece that is custom made will bring visually interesting concepts and shapes to your room and give it its own personal feature. Upholstering these pieces with your favourite fabric is the final touch when tailoring the look to your needs. Whether choosing an eclectic, standout pattern such as Airlie or Plaza, or a more sophisticated, luxe theme using Essence or Adore, styling your surroundings with texture and colour that not only work with your lifestyle and scheme, but that you absolutely love should be celebrated.

No matter what your taste and style is, be yourself and show off what you love and enjoy. The sky is the limit!
