WHAT IS TRITAN?

Tritan is a full range of high performance, easy clean fabrics with water repellent and anti-microbial characteristics for the aged care, hospitality and commercial upholstery applications. The PU backing is applied in Australia combining international commercial fabric standards, with the benefits of prompt local supply and reduced costs.

All Tritan fabrics offer significant advantages to the discerning commercial buyer, including fire retardant properties, commercial grade abrasion rating, resistance to liquid absorption, anti-microbial properties, and prevention of dust mite infestation. Tritan’s easy clean fabric surface provides a solution to maintenance and long-term aesthetics of furniture.

HOW TRITAN IS MADE

Carefully designed to ensure protection and longevity, Tritan is made up of six coated layers, making it superior and resistant in nature.  

High performance upholstery fabrics are completely transformed through a two-step process of immersion and backing to create a Tritan range.

First, fabrics are fully immersed in a specially developed solution to provide water and stain resistance, as well as anti-bacterial, anti-fungal and anti-dust mite properties. This unique formula allows any spilt liquids to bead on the surface, which in turn makes it easier to clean before a stain can be absorbed into the fibres. 

After the solution has been fully impregnated into every fibre of the fabric, the fabric is then meticulously backed with a strong yet soft PU moisture barrier, providing six additional layers of resistance and protection from penetrating liquids. 

Acting as a moisture barrier, Tritan is well-known for its high performance and guaranteed durability when applied to upholstery fabrics, allowing your fabrics to last longer in rigorous conditions.

❖ Tritan® Treatment – our Tritan treatment is odour-free, bio-degradable, noncarcinogenic, and contains no heavy metals (it is classed as a non-dangerous chemical).

❖ Strong Moisture Barrier – provides six layers of resistance and protection to penetrating liquids that occur in aged care and hospitality spaces. Tritan’s unique application allows for maximum protection while maintaining the soft nature of the fabric. This allows for easy upholstering and minimal disturbance to the fabrics’ luxurious, soft feel.

❖ Antibacterial & Antimicrobial – its efficacy is shown to inhibit a wide range of microorganisms including bacteria, moulds, yeasts and algae, as well as Staphylococcus aureus A129.

❖ Anti Dust Mite – Tritan also prevents the infestation of dust mites in new fabrics, as well as stopping microbial growth — providing protection from harmful asthma-triggering microbes and bacteria that thrive in high-traffic areas, allowing you and your loved ones to breathe easier.

❖ Bleach Cleanable – All Tritan fabrics have been tested to withstand commercial bleach cleaning (5% bleach to 95% water concentration).
