Warwick Fabrics New Zealand has been supplying quality furnishing fabrics, to the residential and commercial markets for 30 years.
Warwick Fabrics NZ was started by husband and wife team, Martin & Liz Irvine in 1985. Martin, having already been in the textile industry, was approached by the then Thomas Warwick & Co. to expand into the New Zealand market. With limited experience and youthful enthusiasm the challenge was accepted and so began Warwick Fabrics Ltd.
The company was first based out of the Irvine’s home in Devonport. Martin recalls the very first container of velvet from Belgium being delivered in his driveway, he had to have half of it pre-sold otherwise it wouldn’t fit in the garage! Fortunately he achieved this.
Within 6 months, the realisation was that more space we needed, so they moved to a warehouse and the first showroom in Wilkins St, Freemans Bay. This was the first of many moves, due to expansion of the business, which lead to the current head office and main showroom in Mairangi Bay.
Over the years, Warwick Fabrics has established showrooms in Auckland, Wellington & Christchurch. Our showrooms offer a complimentary cuttings service and our Mairangi Bay showroom is open on Saturdays. Warwick Fabrics’ success has been based on providing a broad selection of fabric price points in qualities consistent with today’s consumer expectations.
Warwick New Zealand is part of a global operation, with in-house design teams in Australia and the UK, and export operations have grown globally and Warwick Fabrics now export to over 50 countries worldwide.
30 years on, Warwick Fabrics has become a respected name in interior furnishing textiles throughout the world.
